Year End Dinner @Sek Yuen Restaurant, Jalan Pudu

1 February 2013
Federal Day is a very happy rest day for those work in Kuala Lumpur. It is also the last day for me stay in Kuala Lumpur. We choose Restaurant Sek Yuen as my farewell dinner place. I really like the authentic chinese food. the smell of burning wood under stove really remind me of my grand parent house.
 Sweet Sour Pork
This dish is very crispy. The sour is very good too.
 Eight Treasure Vegetable
The first dish to finish off. Friends and I can't help praising this dish. This is the best eight treasure fried vegetable i ever eat.
Dishes we ordered

Thank you Kuala Lumpur. I learnt quite a lot from this buzzing metropolitan city.

许留山, Hui Lan Shan@ 1 Utama

13 Jan 2013

Hui Lan Shan is famous for its mango desserts. I do not have the chance to taste this when i visited Hong Kong in 2011. I was great to see its branches open in Malaysia.
Mango Romance RM12.90

I got the chance to taste 3 types of desserts.
Top left: We really have no idea what is it? It does not taste like cheesecake or cream. Not really my favourite
Middle: This is like mango ice shake with glutinous ball. The combination is special as the mango shake is sweet and icy, the hard glutinous ball was too hard to chew when it mixed with ice
Top Right: Mango ice cream is the best among the dessert we order. Another things that interested me is the coconut noodle. It really taste like coconut but in noodle shape. The thickness is just nice for us to chew. I really like this bowl of dessert

mango, coconut milk with black glutinous rice RM8.90

BF have a liking of mango sticky rice after he visited Thailand. Thus, every time he saw this 3 key words, "mango", "sticky rice" and "coconut milk". He can't resist the temptation to order. The mango ice cream did go well with coconut noodle but not with coconut milk. I taste sourness when eating mango ice cream and coconut milk. the sticky rice is a bit too hard too.

Overall, the dessert was just normal and do not really give me a strong impression. The price is high may due to the supply of mango.

Sek Yuen Restaurant @ Jalan Pudu

23 October 2012
My sister and her boyfriend came KL for travelling and relax. As many floggers wrote SekYuen Restaurant is one of the best in KL. Thus, after some traffic jam and lost our way for 30 minutes, we finally found the restaurant.

I really  should learnt up my Cantonese. The auntie waitress talk so fast chinese mix cantonese, we barely understand what she mean. I was wondering may be chinese auntie was good in rapping too.  In the end, I only know to order to pipa duck and fried shark fin with egg. The popiah she explained 3 times. It seem the restaurant seldom make popiah too, so we ordered that too. The only vegetable name I heard is daun ubi kayu. Since daun ubi kayu is my sister's favourite, we then ordered the dish.
Sek Yuen Retaurant
This furniture look exactly the same my  late grandmum house. It give me very nostalgic feeling
Pi pa duck. well marinated and crispy skin. the orange or lemon sauce go so well with duck meat. CS was quietly enjoyed his duck. That indicate how good is this dish
A bowl of steam rice is enough for 2 small eater. I share a bowl of rice with my sister.
Shark fin, crab meat fried egg. This dish must go with fresh salad vegetable and vinegar. However, I stop after my sea food allergic emerged.
This is Fried popiah yam and fried goh hiang pork. It is very crunch. The special cili paste got "foulu" in it. It really give an extra kick when you bite the popiah
Belacan Fried Daun Ubi Kayu. The stem is very tender. The taste was just so good. not too oily, not too salty.
This is an image of dishes serving before we eat.
This is an image of all the plates left after we finish eating

It is very cheap too. The total cost only RM98.30.
We definitely will go back from their other dishes.
IT seem some dishes need to pre ordered.
For example:
-Paper wrap chicken
-8 treasure duck

International Ballet Gala 2012 @ Istana Budaya

Extracted from http://www.danceworks2012.org/images/gala-web.jpg

15 July 2012

I really enjoy the show, The dancers were strong in the dance technique and their expression was great. I really like the first program by YaoJin and Wei Wei. It was humour and funny. Seldom see this kind of performance. ^^

This was my first time to watch a ballet show with my bf, CS. CS do not have any idea or knowledge on dance. Thus the comments I get from him were
  • wow the guy "tititit" go up then "titititi" go down. (ttititii mean battement changement in ballet term)
  • I lazy to count the number of turns (pirouette) ...... too many liao
  • do the male dancer wear protection for the "little brother" when dancing? O.O (i almost faint when he said this)
  • oohh ya the leg very long (he refered to Tan Yuan Yuan which danced "Carmen") and very nice..(no wonder he was so focus during the "Carmen" program >.<
  • Almost the same one leh (he meant the techniques used by the dancer)
  • Huh???? got story one ahhhh. can not feel leh !!!!...........(the dancer were dancing about romance and love.....and famous ballet classical......... isn't it obvious? )

Then only I realised due to my background on Ballet, I can understand the performance easier. Maybe Ballet performance is a bit hard to understand for some because it was all on dance and ballet techniques.
Thanks The Dance Society of Malaysia and Dancework Production for bring such great performance to Malaysia.
Hopefully can have more opportunity to watch more fantastic dance performance.
Photography was not allowed. Thus I only took the theater photo. This was my first time enter a ring size theater.

Istana Budaya was a beautiful place. However, the online ticket collection counter was unbearable slow. We queued up 30 minutes  to take tickets. In the end, I missed out ASWARA Malay dance performance. Really hope can see ASWARA performance again.
