Bon Odori 2014 @ Sutera Mall, Johor

Bon Odori is a Japanese folk dance festival held annually in the middle of the year to welcome ancestral spirits, who are said to make the journey back to the earthly realm.

Dating back to 1976, the Malaysian version was started by Japanese expatriates as a means to teach their children aspects of Japanese culture.

Every year around October, Japanese Club will be hosting Bon Odori event.  The local got to enjoy a different culture festival with some Japanese Expat.

LerLer enjoy the car performance. Seeing the car driving at high speed then a drift. It make us exciting. If I have the skill to park my car like this.... AWESOME.. But Mr. Ang did not agree with me ~.~

Pulau Ketam Steamboat @ Tun Aminah, Johor

Sunday is a rest day for private sector. Mr. Ang brings LerLer to Seri Orkid  Recreation park for a jog. It is a nice park to work out all the fat and muscle. Kids are running around playing kite or giant bubble. The outdoor gym equipments are great too.

A variety of dishes.

After one hour work up, we met up Macherie Johor Bloggers for dinner. Pulau Ketam Steamboat restaurant is just 8 minutes drive from Seri Orkid Recreation Park. Steamboat is definitely a good choice of meal after work fat. It is low fat and low carbohydrate.  Most importantly, the seafood is freshly delivered from Pulau Ketam.

PS: I do not need to worry putting up weight after meal

How many dishes are there? ^^

I prefer the original broth. It is very clear and plain. After cook with many rounds with seafood, the soup is just marvelous.

Fish noodle (Small) RM6   (Big) RM12

Fish noodle is a must to order. It is made out of fresh sea bass. The noodle has very 'Q' texture. As the noodle is quite long. As you chew you can taste the "poik" "poik" texture in your mouth

Crab 100g RM7.50

Nothing is edited. The only word can describe this photo is "Fresh".  Mr. Ang eats quite a lot of it because of the tasty sweet favour. *Slurp

PS: We did our exercise before. Cholesterol problem? Just makan (eat) lah. hahaha

Seafood Platter for 3 persons RM52.50 

USA Kurobuta Pork Slice RM24

Shabu shabu the pork. The pork has no porky smell. Once it just cooked, you can taste the meat juice. This is my favourite dish too. In the end, we order 2 dishes of pork to satisfied our desire.

Fresh Lime Jelly RM4.50

This environment really reminds me the restaurant in Pulau Ketam. 

Steamboat meal is a great chill out place after exercise. You can choose to enjoy the meal outdoor or in air-conditioned hall too. LerLer strongly recommend this place for fresh seafood.

Mystery Room Escape @ Taman Sutera Utama, Johor

Escape room concept is booming in Johor Bahru. My Sarawakian friends have not heard of escape room concept. Since the weather is unbearable hot,  we choose this indoor game to escape the heat too.

Mystery Room Escape in Taman Sutera Utama is totally different from JP Perdana. It is located in shop lot near Public Bank. 

 Time to exercise our brain too. Haiz, we took quite some time to complete the game. Even the superman is in deep thinking mode.

 We choose the most difficult game of the center. Purple lily murder mystery. There are 2 things to solve in this game. We need to find the key to unlock the room. Next, we need to find out the murderer.

Did we make it? No... But we have great fun solving the puzzle

Moon Light Cake House, Johor Bahru - Dessert Edition

Finally, dessert time. You can find the previous post at "Main Dish Edition" or "Drinks Edition"

ALERT!! This post contains high sugar levels.  However, as a dessert lover, I can always eat up another piece using my second tummy.  So let start with some Mille crepe.

 Peach Mille Crepe RM9.90

My favourite dessert. Frankly speaking, mille crepe is not even cake. I just love the layers of thin pancakes sandwiches between the vanilla fresh cream. This mille crepe is better as it has slices of peaces in it.

The slices of peach added extra texture to the dessert. This dessert captured my heart instantly.

Rainbow Cheese Cake RM12.90

The creamy cheese cake is presented in seven colours. As the cake house is very health conscious, they use minimum colour. They also try to use natural colour essence in their cake. Their cake is very suitable for kids too. Kid like me >.<

Assorted Fruit Tart

A lovely tarts to share among friend and family members. Not need to cut as it can just be pick up by 2 fingers.

Brownie Cheese RM9.90

A beautiful rose on top of the cake. Is that a flower for me? But I eat it up in the end.

Red Velvet Cake RM12.90

Layers of red velvet cake sandwiched by cheese cream

I like the idea of recycling the cake crumb. But why is it named red velvet. The chef explained that the color is extracted from insect. O.O Since the red color is quite similar to red velvet cloth, thus it is named red velvet cake. Luckily it is noted named as "bloody red cake" or some name that disturb my imagination.

The man behind these pastries is Chef Edward. Forgive for my playfulness. I can't help asking "Where is Bella?"

Too much Twilight movies confused me with reality.

Thanks to him, I understand the story behind red velvet cake.

After this wonderful meal, I went hiking the next day. Stay tune for my hiking trip in Sungai Lembing with some hot guys. May be someone like Jacob. #shy

A meal does not complete without some drinks. Mr. Boon Lim recommended us some good drinks and beverages

 

Earl Grey Tea RM8.90

I like the small tea pot design.

Dragon Fruit Juice Rm12.90

All fruit juice are freshly made. This drink is seasonal depend on the supply of dragon fruit.

Hot White Coffee RM4.90

I not too sure is this the collagen white coffee. Mr. Boon Lin mentioned collagen white coffee can give firmness for our skin after drinking 21 days. O.O Got such good effect !

Mangorange Soda RM8.90

All juice are freshly squeeze. This soda drink have fresh orange juice too.

Honey Wolfberry Tea RM6.90

Aud mentioned that this tea is good for skin complexion. Wah! the killer statement. Immediately, I order second cup.

  The tea have red date, honey and wolf-berries. It is very sweet and very easy to drink.  Cheers for good skin complexion.

Moon Light Cake House @ Taman Sutera Utama, Skudai - Main Dish Edition

Thanks to the extended invitation of Tony, Johor Kaki and Kim Tan, MaCherie Johor Bloggers and I got the chance to try out Moon Light Cafe's new menu. As usual, I am the earliest to reach. Finding parking lot around 6.45pm is quite easy. May be most of the office close around 5pm or 6pm. Ample of parking lots near moon light cafe.


We are greeted by Mr. Boon Lin, assistant manager of Moon Light Cake House. The invitation objective is to try out the new menu. Chef  Zhao is the main person for the new menu. With the previous working experiences with Blue Wave hotel, Pan Pancific hotel and The Zon hotel, new culinary life is introduced to Moon Light Cake House. Lets just stuck in and enjoy the food. Shall we? ^^

Main Dishes

Bamboo Charcoal Crunchy Chicken Burger RM12.90

The mayonnaise sauce is a bit special. It is specially mixed with some fried garlic. The sauce bring out the extra fragrance  when biting into the crunchy chicken pieces.

Thanks To Eunice Tham as my model. The burger is cut into finger size. It will be easier for lady to eat with politeness. So if you are dating with some one you like, you can request the burger to cut onto finger size.This way, you can show your polite and gentle side.

Fried Sliced Fish Bee Hoon Soup RM9.90

The cafe do offer some local delicacies too.

The soup based is deliciously milky. The golden brown sliced fish is fresh and delicious.

Aglio Olio with Mushroom RM13.90

The cafe specially hired an experienced Singapore chef for the series of pasta. The pasta is my comfort food. It is not oily at all. I like its light texture. Most important, this dish is full of mushroom

Cheezy Wedges (13 pieces) RM6.90

Unbelievable! We can get 13 pieces of potato wedges with reasonable price.

The amount of cheese is unbelievable. The cheese sauce seem to be more than the fast food shop.

Two Flavored Mussel

Opss! Too busy eating forget to check the price. 

Each mussel is generously topped with seasoning.I only manged to taste the garlic mussel. The garlic seasoning is a bit pungent for me. The mussel was full of garlic texture. If you are a garlic lover, this is for you.

 Scallop with Capelin Roe RM12.90

I love this dish. 

There is 3 layers in this dish. The chef cleverly placed some thin sliced onion under the scallop. Thus, the scallop do not have the  reeking smell but with onion's sweetness. The top layer is is mixture of capelin roe and mayonnaise. Chef burned the top layer slightly to add some extra texture to it.

I like this dish so much. In the end, I ate up Aud's portion. O.O

Honey BBQ Chicken Chop with Fried Rice RM11.90

The cafe do serve some rice dishes too. I have a relative that must have rice as the main staple in every meal. I can totally understand the need of rice for some consumer.

Fried rice must be  well fried with egg. "粒粒分明" is defined as every bits of rice can be clearly seen. Well marinated chicken and fried rice is a good combination. 

Wa Tan Ho 滑蛋河

The kuew Teow is nicely fried with Wok qi. The gravy is nicely done. However, this dish is no longer in menu. Mr. Boon Lin expresses his disappointment with the dish removal from menu. He used to tabao (packed) this dish for his mum. ~.~ I am great to have the final chance to taste this great dish.
