What is Johor Bahru Home town food? (Based on  my opinion)

• Kolam Air Laksa

• the list will keep going so i stop here.

 This time, I decided to record down Tampoi Sha Hu. One of my favourite old Chinese shop. I never able to remember the shop name, Hin Hock Bat Kut Teh. Most of the JBrian only recognised it as Tampoi Sha Hu. The shop been in Tampoi since my father time. May be my grandparent time too....

 

"Sha Hu" or Hin Hock Bat Kut Teh have moved its shops. It currently located near to Jalan Skudai. I found the new shop have better ventilation and more car parks. While waiting for the dishes, try out the otak-otak. It is quite delicious. It is a family of three operating the muar otak-otak stall.

I really like this shop. The cooks are mostly local. It been some years I seen the boss trained up these young boys. Hopefully they can continue the legendary old shops.

Boiled toufu with minced meat. 

This dish very suitable for elder people. It can be easily swallow.This restaurant still use charcoal to cook. Thus the taste of the food is very good

Boiled "Tou miao"

It become our family tradition. We only order this dish. The minced meat for boil vegetables is less salty and lighter taste compare to toufu

The fish is boiled to perfect tenderness.  It is very tasty with the garlic source.

Bat Kut Teh

I salute to the old boss. He seem to limp or paralyses on his left side.  He still slowly scope up the meat, cut into small pieces and boiled in the claypot before serving. Thus, bat kut teh always is the last to be served.

This is a restaurant I will bring my other state friends to eat.

Tips: 

• Although it stated open at 7.30am, they often need 2 hours to set up the restaurant. Please understand that it take time to use charcoal to boil water.
• Pick the fish you want.

What to do when your luggage is lost?

Last week, I met 2  friends  who lost their luggage.

Friend A
She joined company trip to nearby countries. Once arrive at the airport, she was shocked to find out that her luggage is not on the convey belt.She immediately inform the airline company and tour agent. A lost report was made. During the whole travel trip, she need to buy new garments and other necessity to replace. Lucky, she can borrow her colleague's charger to charge her phone.

Once the trip ended and reach back hometown airport, she went to the lost counter to check on the progress. It was a miracle. She found her bag among the "hill" of lost luggage. It seem that the counter personnel did not tag the bag properly. The bag was left in the hometown airport all this while. That was the reason airline company was not able to trace her bags.

Friend B
He went to Africa for business trip. He was required to transit a few countries before reaching his destination. Unfortunately, he was not able to produce a valid travel visa during one of the transit. The main reason was that countries embassy was not operating due to unknown reason. How he solve it? I not sure.

When he reach hometown, airline company called to inform that the luggage was found. The luggage will be courier back to him.

Friend C
This happen during my last Bali trip 2012.  Before we enter the flight cabin, another round of security check point was needed. He put his bag for x ray scan. However, after he pack his phone and wallet from the x-ray security check, his bag was not found. He was not able to make any report too due to time constraint for the flight.

Tips to prevent/handle lost /delayed luggage problem
1) prepare some light travel garment in your personal bag
It is essential to have something to wear. Some countries just do not have the facilities for us to buy new garment. Friend B have to pay much higher price to buy his new set of garment before meeting client.

2) Make lost report with airline company
Airline company will take care and trace your luggage properly.

3) Make sure your checked in luggage is tag properly
At check in counter, please monitor that counter personnel stick or strap your luagge with the luagge id. the luggage id number usually will stick with boarding pass or passport. You can use that number to make lost report if the luggage was not found. 

4) Pray for safe and smooth journey
I believe some time praying will help to improve your luck.

Scone @Smokehouse, Cameron Highland

Recently, my family members visit Cameron Highland. They brought me a scone from Smokehouse.I always wanted to try this dessert.  I not sure is it true that the smokehouse scone is the best in Cameron highland. I just feel I need to decorate the table before trying it.

The strawberry jam is very delicious. I really like the combination of strawberry jam, cheese cream and scone.

I am very happy to be able to meet my old friend, ES. We supposed to meet last week. However, my bad. I do assignment until i forget our date. Poor ES been waiting for me like a pumpkin. I am so sorry for my forgetfulness. Today, we decided to have some catch up at Japanese restaurant.  I just can't stop my craving for Japanese food.

Kage Sushi do provide buffet too. It is RM63 ++ per person. We opt for ala carte as we are small eaters. Thank you ES for buying me this dinner. Hope to bring ES to Tampoi "Sha hu" (boiled fish) one day.

I am having fun when picking the pieces. The ice keep turning around in the plate. ES need to help me to stabilise the ice only i can take the salmon sashimi

Japanese Fried Chicken

Until this dish, I realise that we order too much food for 2 ladies. This dish I should eat it hot. It is very crunchy and not oily when eat it hot.

Cold Soba

Salmon sushi with fruits and eggs.

It is so cute. However, I not used to sour kiwi and sweet mangoes with sushi.
